The Club's inaugural meeting took place on Tuesday, March 7th 1967 in the St. Phillip's Church Hall, Rawhiti Street and started at 8.15pm.
A committee was elected as follows:
Chairman - Rev. R.H.S. Smith, Secretary - D. McNeil, Club Captain - T. Ryan, plus W. Anthony, B. Kitchingman, J. McGlone and R. Stevenson.
The Senior First Team was entered in Division 6 - Subsection D, which was well below its playing ability as it won promotion in seven of its first nine years! There were also five Junior teams entered.
A loan was arranged through the ANZ Bank in February 1972 to enable clubrooms to be built. The tender was given to local builder Fred New, and the premises were completed in November 1973 and officially opened in March 1974.
At the end of the 1975 season, the club had five Men's, eighteen Junior and one Women's team. In December of that year, the Club learned that it had obtained promotion to the Central League. The Club's successes continued throughout the next four seasons and it obtained promotion to Central League One for the 1980 season.
The Club remains an integral part of the Stokes Valley community and history and is a staple of the of the underdog who may not be the biggest club but has the biggest heart, battling back from any adversity and providing a safe fun space to share the love of the game of football.
The Club's run in the Central League was a real 'roller-coaster' one where sometimes promotion was obtained one year and relegation the next. Under former international, Grant Turner, the Club won promotion to Central One in 1993 and Premier in 1994, but when Turner left at the end of the 1993 season, the Club had three poor years and finally decided to pull out of the Central League before the 1997 season due to increasing costs and lack of players.
Since withdrawing from the Central League, the Club has become much more of a 'social' one. The Club's top side is playing in Capital Division Four this (2002) season. We also have four other Men's teams plus a Women's team and nineteen Junior teams - an interesting comparison with the 1975 strength!
Over the years the club has had its fair share of wins, losses, hardships trophies and now fast-forward to 2025 its glory days are fast starting to return with six Senior Mens, two Senior Womens and 26 Junior teams and an Under 17 team. The Club Management Committee is committed more than ever to seeing this grow with new events, sponsorship, teams and coaching opportunities.
